Biodata of Mr. Frank Oladipo Odumosu
By Super Admin • 18 viewsMr. Frank Oladipo Odumosu was born in 1895, apparently in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.
He was one of the children of Dr. Joseph Jaiyeola Odumosu, popularly known as Dr. J.J. Odumosu.
His mother, Madam Comfort Elfrida Jekasinmi Odumosu née Olubi, was said to have had Sierra Leonian roots and was therefore well-educated. This attribute was perhaps what enabled her to contribute to the education of the man who later became her husband!
Frank was the only child his mother had for Dr. J.J. Odumosu. He left the Odumosu household at a young age when his mother, as well as three others of Dr. J.J. Odumosu’s five wives, were let go after he converted to Christianity.
He moved to Ibadan with his mother who later married one Mr. Folarin, with whom she had four other children.
Frank Oladipo attended the prestigious St. Andrew’s College, Oyo and later he became the first teacher at the nascent Ibadan Grammar School when it was established at Oke Are, Ibadan, in 1913!
He later worked with the United African Company (UAC) and was posted to Calabar as a manager.
While in Calabar, he was fully engaged in the city’s social life and served as the president of the Yoruba Club.
He was married to several wives and among his children were/are: the late Justice Olayimika Odumosu, late Mrs. Kehinde Adewusi, late Engineer Taiwo Odumosu, late Ambassador Frank Olatubosun Odumosu, and Dr. Oladapo Odumosu.
He died at the age of sixty-two years, on April 11, 1957, which was incidentally the 40th birthday of his first son, Justice Olayimika Odumosu.
Sweet is the remembrance of the just.
Requescat in pace. Amen.
